This classic Santa Fe hike can be run, but the incredibly steep climb along Rio Nambe up to the lake will leave you gasping for air, and probably walking.
This is a great out and back route if you want to improve on steep, technical terrain with lots of loose rock. You are rewarded with the sounds of Rio Nambe babbling away and the beautiful Nambe Lake nestled in the cirque below Lake Peak. Be aware for potential cattle grazing near the lake and in the meadows before the lake, especially later in the summer.
