Aspen Vista
I’ll be honest, I kind of hate this road. There are a lot of big loose rocks, so when you’re hurtling back down after climbing to Tesuque Peak you’ve gotta be careful that you don’t eat it. It sure is a beautiful run though, especially in the fall when the Aspens turn all golden and beautiful. October is an extremely busy time on this route due to the fall colors.
This is a classic Santa Fe run and the site of the Big Tesuque Trail Run every October. The Big T is the iconic trail race in Santa Fe, so you should check it out. Oh, and maybe preview the route beforehand so you know what you’re getting into if you plan on trying to bomb the downhill.
This route is an out and back so you can adjust it to your tastes if you get tired and don’t want to make it to the top. You can also shortcut on the way up or down by taking the Alamo Vista or Big Tesuque Creek trails.
